The Keyholding Company

How we’ve responded to meet a surge in demand
‘Unprecedented’ is a word continuously used to describe COVID-19 and its impact on all areas of our society. And for good reason. In recent times, we’ve never experienced this level of disruption, not only to our personal lives, but also to the businesses we work for, and in some cases own.

We understand that this is a worrying time for many, and the announcement of a nationwide lockdown has resulted in an increasing need and urgency for properties to be secure for the foreseeable future.

Since the very beginning of this pandemic, The Keyholding Company has put processes in place to make sure we can remain fully operational throughout lockdown. We have launched extra services to support existing clients through this crisis as well as new clients who need our help. Business and home owners in positions of uncertainty have been turning to us for advice and services that deliver on increased security needs.

We are incredibly proud of how every member of our keyholding team and national network of service partners has risen to these challenging circumstances and responded to what has been a period of fast-paced change with steep learning curves.

Here are some key developments we’ve made in recent weeks that ensure we can continue to deliver an uncompromisingly high level of service to all our clients, old and new.

‘Essential worker’ status granted to frontline team

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) has announced that security companies are essential in maintaining critical services across the UK. This means our frontline team and trusted service partners are, by government definition, essential workers and so will continue to work hard to ensure increased security needs are met.

The granting of this status for security guards is critical to supporting national infrastructure and taking some strain from the Police, especially in cases where, due to more urgent COVID-related matters, they may begin to withdraw support for attending to intruder alarms or reports of theft or vandalism.

Our operations teams have also completely reworked their operating model to ensure that our colleagues are kept as safe as possible, including the safeguarding of our London team who are working at the epicentre of this crisis.

Our technology has allowed us to make hundreds of new sites live to assist key businesses and industries to keep trading.

Innovating at speed to meet changing demands

Something we’re very proud of at The Keyholding Company is our tech-first ethos and strong focus on innovation. This, alongside an expert team who keep a close eye on developments that directly impact security, means we’re able to work fast, be agile and respond to daily changes.

During the last two weeks, we’ve seen a 400% increase in changes to services with no adverse effect on service levels. Our technology has also allowed us to make hundreds of new sites live to assist key businesses and industries to keep trading, such as leading supermarket brands who are essential to protect.

We’ve also launched a series of packages for mobile patrols conducted at random over 24 hours. These patrols the best way to increase the security of a newly empty property, acting as a visual deterrent against potential intruders. Patrols packages can be rapidly deployed to any property and existing clients can book them easily on their online accounts.
